What the official sources describe

  • The README lists Mac, Windows and Linux installation paths
  • PSD/PSB and automation described in the repository
  • Uses PhotoCraft document, compositor and command foundations

Before you choose

  • Shared foundations do not make it an official PhotoCraft product.
  • Complete PSD compatibility is a development claim, not our test result.

Which PhotoSuite?

This guide covers the eolix/photosuite GitHub project. Several unrelated products have used the PhotoSuite name, so verify the repository owner before downloading. Its README describes a Photoshop-style image editor for Mac, Windows and Linux, with PSD/PSB and automation workflows.

The repository declares MIT OR Apache-2.0. Link to its current releases and instructions for installation; do not substitute a package from a similarly named project or infer that every published binary matches the newest source tree.

How it relates to PhotoCraft

PhotoSuite acknowledges PhotoCraft’s open-source foundations for its document model, compositor and commands, and builds its own interface and tools around them. That relationship is useful context for understanding the project. It does not establish an official partnership or make PhotoSuite a replacement download for PhotoCraft.

Independent releases can change behavior even when they share an engine. A file that works in one application may behave differently in the other because of version differences, interface actions or changes in import and export. Keep both version identifiers in any comparison.

How to evaluate its PSD claims

The README discusses ambitious compatibility goals while also describing work in progress. Treat “1:1” language as a project claim. A useful trial includes text, groups, masks, blend modes, layer effects and an embedded smart object, followed by a save and reopen in the original editor.

PhotoSuite belongs on the shortlist when its interface or development choices solve a specific problem for you. If you are simply looking for PhotoCraft, use our separate PhotoCraft download guide. Neither project’s published ambitions remove the need to preserve an original production file.

Need to verify your files?

Start with text, masks, effects and a save-and-reopen round trip. Record the exact build.
